Pinay Ako!

Vote_1To vie means to strive for victory. We are meant to live a life of victory, a life of prosperity and abundance. Every waking day, we make decisions from the trivial and mundane to the most profound, life-changing ones. The Word from today’s service tells us to make God-driven choices to see the Philippines governed by men (or women) with the following qualities:

But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.Exodus 18:21 (New International Version)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. – Psalm 111:10 (NIV)

To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. – Proverbs 8:13 (NIV)

It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes. – Ecclesiastes 7:18 (NIV)

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. – Exodus 20:16 (NIV)

A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment, but he who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long life. – Proverbs 28:16

So, is your 12 down to zero? My prayers are with you. I’m serious, my prayers are really with you. In a culture that prides patronage more than merit, we will need it. And then one day, we can go to bed in peace and wake up to a world populated by discerning individuals who still believe we will live to see the Philippines great again.

Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous. – Exodus 23:8 (NIV)
